Thappad, a movie about consequences of a SLAP. No, it’s not as simple as that.
Considering it as his birth right, a Husband slapped her wife in a home-thrown party in front of everyone. This movie clearly depicts depression, emotional distress and disturbances caused by domestic violence.

Amrita(Taapsee), a brave young lady by nature and a classical dancer by passion gets married to Vikram(Pavail Gulati) who works as an architect. After getting married, Amrita parks her ambition and passion aside and decides to be a good house wife.

Vikram throws an in-house party as a result of his professional success. Therefore he invites his colleagues and manager. During party, Vikram gets a call in which he learns that he has been pulled off a step behind, of what he has expected in his professional career. Therefore Vikram gets into a heated argument with his manager. Consequently, Amrita tries to stop the argument. As a result, Vikram slaps her in front of everyone.
Amrita feels humiliated for Vikram’s behavior and suffers from depression, emotional distress. Therefore, she realises that she deserves a better life than what she is having now. But, Vikram assumes that it’s just a slap and doesn’t even realise the mistake what he did. Above all, she gets pregnant amid of all these trauma.
After numerous arguments, Amrita realises that no-one cares about what had happened to her and to her self-respect. Finally, Amrita files a divorce case.
Conflict in any meaningful relation is inevitable.
At the end of this movie, most will realise that SHE is a human being too, and should be treated as one. But, Will Amrita’s family really understand the pain which she has gone through? Will Amrita be able to lead a normal life after the trauma? Just watch and find out and please do share your views on this review.
